The candidate will work under the direction of a medical provider (physician, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner).  The majority of the work will be assisting the provider by accompanying them at the bedside and documenting the patient encounter in the electronic medical record.


  • Accompanies the provider to the bedside
  • Accurately and thoroughly documents the patient medical history, physical exam, and procedures
  • Completes transcription as requested
  • Performs tasks to improve provider efficiency during the course of a shift
  • Assists with registering patients and cleaning rooms as requested
  • Maintains confidentiality with all patient information according to HIPAA laws.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and general medical knowledge.
  • Excellent listening and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardize work practices.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 words per minute.
  • Strong communication skills, including grammatical, spelling and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to work effectively under conditions requiring accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Capable of working well on a team.
  • Friendly and customer service oriented.


  • Bachelor’s Degree is beneficial but not a requirement

Required License or Certification:

  • Will be required to complete scribe training program prior to first shift
